The latest creation of Meryanne Loum-Martin, Jnane Tamsna comprises three houses - Jnane House, Moussafir House and Dar Ylane - with a total of 17 bedrooms within a walled garden. The property is located in a protected palm grove with spectacular views of the High Atlas mountains to the south, and the smaller Jbilet range to the north. Pounded earth walls enclose the entire estate. The houses blend the traditional Medina architecture of interior courtyards and fountains with the space, light and vegetation typical of the Palmeraie. Jnane Tamsa offers a romantic way to discover Marrakech and understand why it has become a legend. Aromatherapy and massage - as well as a poolside area for reading, meditation and yoga - lend a relaxing mood to the estate. Blended fruit juices are served in the courtyards or verandas, and special light meals are available. You may eat in the oriental way, reclining on pillows on the roof terrace, dine by candlelight on the veranda, or gather around a table in a secluded corner in the garden.

ROOM FEATURES

ACCOMMODATION : All rooms have central heating and are en suite. All beds can be turned into twin beds except the four poster bed of Celadon room. There are two pools and one clay surface tennis court. Jnane House is next to the large pool in a spacious private garden. Moussafir house has easy access to a smaller lap pool and a private garden, and each of the suites has its own television, DVD player and stereo. Guests can enjoy all gardens and both pools, except when one of the houses is rented in exclusivity.

All designed objects in the house - art, china, crafts, furniture, sculptured frames and textiles - may be purchased by guests. In addition, selected culinary and health products used at Jnane Tamsna, from argan oil to bath essences, are available. Ongoing investments in ecologically appropriate landscaping and technology ensure that the Jnane Tamsna estate is environmentally friendly. Planting of arid zone and Mediterranean species minimizes the need for irrigation. All waste water is treated on site and used for ornamental gardens. Jnane Tamsna is committed to using a percentage of its profits to improve the landscaping and environmental technology on the estate. This will include planting of additional water efficient gardens, composting of organic refuse and investment in solar water pumps, among other measures.

Touareg and Blue Animal are large rooms on the ground floor around a central courtyard planted with olive trees and flowers. They have a corridor entrance with closet space and an independent WC. The bedrooms feature a fireplace, air conditioning and a double bed. There is direct access to large veranda, facing the garden and close to the swimming pool. Each bathroom has a bathtub, independent shower, and two sinks.

The blue room collects animal prints and paintings. Zebra, monkeys, elephants and camels. Desert and savannah. A bathroom the colour of sand. Walls blue as some washed out fabrics of the Touaregs in the Sahara.

Beige and Green are large rooms on the ground floor also around a central courtyard. They have a corridor entrance with closet space and an independent WC. The bedrooms feature a fireplace, air conditioning and a double bed. There is direct access to private veranda on the north side of the house. Each bathroom has a bathtub, independent shower, and two sinks.

The Green room collects sepia photos from the Middle East: ruins of glorious buildings, people in traditional costumes, and architecture. Its Syrian desk – made of mother of pearl and precious wood – gives a touch of opulence to the soothing zen atmosphere. The ceiling border carries a traditional ornate pattern edited to a more contemporary and relaxing mood.

Edward and Indian are large rooms on the first floor with north and south views. They have private access to a spacious roof terrace through attached verandas. Each room has a corridor entrance with closet space, a fireplace and air conditioning. The bathroom has a bathtub, two sinks, independent shower and WC.

Wedgwood and Celadon are also on the first floor. Each has a double bed, air conditioning and fireplace. Each of the bathrooms has a bathtub, two sinks, independent shower and WC. The rooms have a north view, but no exclusive veranda.

White, also on the ground floor, is our second smallest room. It has a double bed and a private patio; the bathroom has a bathtub, sink and WC. There is air conditioning, but no fireplace.

Taupe, our smallest room, is located on the ground floor. It has a double bed and a small bathroom with shower, sink and WC. There is air conditioning, but no fireplace. It is offered only for single occupancy.
